“Spring Cleaning” Nutrition Challenge- Getting in the Kitchen

Meet Xian! She challenged herself for 45 days to eat, sleep and perform better and lost 12 pounds and 9.5 inches (waist, hips, chest)! Here is her story!

I am so happy that I decided to do this spring challenge. It worked out for me better than I thought! The spring challenge really did change my eating habits and lifestyle. Before doing the challenge I had no idea how to cook anything, the only thing I knew how to use was the microwave. However, now I know how to cook chicken, beef, eggs, fish and things I probably never would have even touched if I didn’t do this challenge.

In the beginning it was very hard to focus and not eat the sugar or fast food restaurants I loved to go too. But I decided to really stay dedicated and determined to do this challenge because I knew if I wanted real and noticeable results I really had to put my mind to it. I did have the moments where I cheated, mostly with alcohol and I did have sugar snacks at family parties. Even though I would slip, I would get right back on track the next day and try to compensate by getting the 8 hours of sleep or getting in a wod or regular work out. I definitely wasn’t perfect during this challenge but even though I slipped up now and then I am still extremely happy with my results which shows me you don’t have to be perfect 100% of the time to get where you want to be.

My family also joined in on eating healthier which was another goal of mine to help my family out because we would always prefer just ordering pizza or fast food because no one wanted to cook. Now we almost have dinner home cooked every night which never really happened in the past. My friends are actually going to start this challenge maybe not as strict as I was but they want to use it as guidelines. It just makes me feel really good to be able to inspire other people and help out.

I completely changed my life in the past 45 days. During the challenge and especially now if I eat something with a lot of sugar my body reacts to it in a way where I don’t want to eat that stuff anymore because my body freaks out! I do have more energy in my workouts and just throughout the day in general. I don’t need any energy drinks or anything to help me get through the day and even after working 8 hours I still have energy to get in a workout! I feel better about myself and really want to continue this healthy lifestyle, which was my goal when I first decided to do the challenge. I needed something that was going to show me how to eat right and mainly cook and be healthier, this was the perfect opportunity! I’m just stoked that I know how to cook for myself and I learned to cook the healthy way. Now I know what kind of food to shop for and how long it’ll last, before I would just head straight to the frozen food isles. Like I said before I was extremely nervous and NEVER thought I’d be able to give up the Mcdonalds or plate lunches but and I know this sounds like really cliché but, you really can do anything if you really want it set your mind to it, don’t doubt yourself and just stay focused because you will see results and be extremely happy. I will continue to live this way and set new goals for myself, this was definitely the push I needed to push myself in the right direction. I am so happy to have done this thank you so much!
