“Natural November” has officially launched on November 1st! Over 50 challengers have committed to eating cleaner, sleeping better and being more awesome in general for the next 30 days.
The food we eat usually falls somewhere in the spectrum of “worst crap you could put in your body” to nutrient-rich fuel that makes you feel and perform at your potential. The strict challenges at CFO are structured around that view and the perspective of the food journey. Not only does every person have a somewhat unique relationship with food, but also different goals, lifestyles, food skills, and many other connections to what they eat. This challenge allows each athlete to choose a level of commitment that will help them make positive changes with confidence.
Small changes can create new habits
It’s basically not ‘all or nothing’ when it comes to improving your food intake, or any other behavior change, such as fitness, sleeping better, quitting bad habits. Small changes can make a huge difference and will allow you to develop healthy new habits and eventually quit bad habits, which may be ingrained in our brains for years. We have routines everyday that are engrained with very specific cues.
Example Engrained Habit
Cue: You have a long, stressful day, the kids are hungry, you forgot to stop at the grocery store and, despite your good intentions, you have no time or the energy to make a healthy dinner at home.
Routine: Drive through McDonald’s
Reward: Fast, convenient, kids are happy, no dishes to wash
