I started Crossfit at Waipio in February 2012 thinking I’ll workout 3-4 times a week and lose
tons of weight without changing my eating habits. Well… 6 months later I’ve only lost about 8
lbs. I’ve heard it said before but never really “believed” how true the statement “90% diet 10%
exercise” was until I challenged myself to take the leap of faith and commit to the Fall 45 day
Paleo Challenge. Nine days into the challenge I injured my lower back. I was only able to work
out a total of 8 times throughout the challenge. Although I was dying to get back to Crossfit, I
knew letting my back heal and recover was the best thing to do. In the meantime, I followed
the Challenge guideline for eating and gave up all the food I used to love to eat (bread, pasta,
chips, Pepsi, desserts etc.). The first week and a half was the hardest, I was fuzzy headed and
experienced frequent dull headaches. Then everything stabilized. I didn’t get the shakes and
headaches when a meal was skipped or late as I did in the past. I had more energy, getting 7-
8 hrs of sleep every night, I cooked every meal (we used to eat out a lot) and best of all…. the
weight starting falling. The biggest change in my body was my waist/belly area… it started
shrinking! Like most women, my belly was my biggest problem and when I went down from a
size 8 to size 4 jeans I was ecstatic!!! I was never so glad to have kept my size 4 Michael Kors
jeans!!!! LOL
The day after the challenge, I weighed in at 119 lbs from 134 …. I lost 15 lbs!!! Best of all I lost
3.5 inches on my waist! This is proof that the weight loss is due, for the most part, from the
change in my diet. I BELIEVE!!
I’m not done yet …. I’ve still got a ways to go to get the body I want… the body I deserve.
Someday… I WILL have a killer body like Courtney and Amanda! I am so pumped and excited to
continue my journey. CROSSFIT & PALEO for LIFE!!! (with a cheat meal here and there!
