As you know, Hawaii is blessed with a lot of gifted athletes. A couple of former UH Football players, Kealoha Pilares and Greg Salas stopped by to get their workout on.
After a couple of sessions, here is what they had to say.
“Before coming to crossfit, the only thing that I had heard about it was that the people from 300 the movie did it to get into shape. At that time, the movie was relatively new and the public was in awe of how they got so fit. Once I heard about it, I youtubed crossfit and was blown away at the pace/exercises in the workouts. Luckily at the time, a high school football coach of mine was in classes and invited me over to a workout.
Being an athlete and someone who loves working out, I knew that the crossfit workout would push both my endurance and strength. The pace and constant movement from each exercise was far different than anything I’d experienced before.
I remember the first crossfit workout I did lasted for about 12 minutes and I was done. Covered in sweat, the only thing that I could compare it to was a 400m race in track. In other words, in 12 minutes, I felt like I did an entire 4hr workout and ran a mile.”
” I didn’t know much about Crossfit besides what Kealoha told me. I was expecting a fast, tough, and good workout. I felt like I got what I expected. A good workout with a good tempo that worked me out physically and also worked on my endurance. It was a different workout than I am accustomed too and I felt like I really got a good workout and I know that I didn’t even experience the whole crossfit training , just a dose of it.”
